Just to point out, in the Demon manual he can do everything except: 1. Kill Human 2. Revive the dead 3. Interfere with God's work i.e natural disasters etc. So your theory on how the tattoo came back was incorrect that Do-hee dies and that's why it came back to Gu-won. On this scenario, Do-hee died so him reciting the verse is kinda like giving in to "God" and basically defying #2 above and revived Do-hee knowing that he'll spontaneously combust thus saving himself since Do-hee is saved and alive.
