But his brother gave her one so he didn't give her because she would not appreciate it. Then he put it next to the bath while he took a dip, and IU was in the bath, she saw his face without the mask so he rushed off and forgot the pin. Then she took it, asked a servant to put it back, but she was caught by Wook's sister and accused of theft. Hae Soo defended her and got whipped, 4th Prince came and saved her saying he knew she had it or something. But yeah, in any case, it is the 4th Prince's hairpin. He asked her to meet to confess his feelings/ask her in marriage. And she knew what he wanted to tell her, she knew perfectly well and was ready to accept him, hence why she wore the pin, made herself look pretty had her hair down (sign of being unmarried, once you're married your hair is always up) and not in her work clothes, and why she told him he can take his time telling her, because she knows already. ps : So Soon is not a person, he meant "I plan to give the throne to (Prince) So (4th Prince), in not a long time (soon). And the king is not stupid, he's poisoned with mercury, making him hallucinate, get paranoia, as well as physically ill. It's not his previous illness, they just blame it on that as a cover up, but it's the mercury making him lose his mind. Which is why nowadays, mercury is forbidden. It's insanely poisonous. When he says to Wook he wants to give the throne to So, he's pretty clear minded because he hasn't had a (mercury) bath.
