The very existence of a Slimehost seems to deny all logic. Rangers of this conclave have bonded themselves, body and brain, to a caustic ooze that lives symbiotically within them. Many cannot even explain the origin of their mysterious condition, but as their connection deepens the boundary between ranger and ooze becomes blurrier and blurrier. As their abilities grow mightier and weirder in turn, it seems hardly surprising that many remain wary of these rangers and their internal companions.
3rd level Slimehost feature
At 3rd level, you become host to an ooze that resides within your body. As your physicality is affected by the ooze, you gain the following benefits:
You gain resistance to acid damage.
When you make a melee attack on your turn, your reach for it is 5 feet greater than normal.
You have advantage on ability checks to grapple a creature or escape a grapple.
3rd level Slimehost feature
As an action, you can touch the corpse of a medium or small beast or humanoid creature and infuse it with your slime to create an Ooze Puppet. The Ooze Puppet uses the zombie stat block, but is an Ooze. It remains animated for 1 hour, after which time it collapses and dies.
In combat, the puppet’s turn comes immediately after yours. It obeys your mental commands, and the only action it can take is the Attack action, making one melee attack which deals acid damage instead of the normal bludgeoning.
When the puppet dies, it explodes into a gooey explosion and is reduced to slime. Each creature other than you in a 10-foot-radius sphere centered on the zombie must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your Ranger spell save DC or take 2d6 acid damage. When you reach certain levels in this class, the damage increases: at 7th level (2d8), 11th level (2d10), 15th level (2d12).
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
7th level Slimehost feature
At 7th level, your ooze passenger has become further intertwined with your body. The first time you or your Ooze Puppets hit a creature with a melee attack each turn, the attack deals an additional 1d6 acid damage.
11th level Slimehost feature
At 11th level, your form has become more ooze than flesh, granting you a deeper connection with your Ooze Puppets. You gain the following benefits:
You have advantage on attack rolls against creatures as long as an Ooze Puppet is within 5 feet of the creature.
As an action, you can see through the eyes of an Ooze Puppet and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.
As a bonus action or as a reaction to taking damage, you can swap places with an Ooze Puppet as long as it is on the same plane of existence as you. If used as a reaction to taking damage, the Ooze Puppet takes the damage in your place.
15th level Slimehost feature
At 15th level, the boundary between host and ooze has become nonexistent; you and your companion are now fully one. You gain the following benefits:
You gain immunity to acid damage. Additionally, acid damage dealt by you or your Ooze Puppets ignores resistance to acid, and treats immunity to acid damage as resistance instead.
You can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch without expending extra movement to do so.
You are immune to being knocked prone or grappled.
