Vindictive Seekers of Glimmering Treasure

The ominous head of a shadowy flock, the elusive Crowfather is a cunning leader obsessed with glimmering artifacts. Sometimes called Murder Dragons, these creatures sow misfortune wherever they go. All who live within range of their lair find any shiny objects missing, stolen by the dragon’s family to add to its growing collection. However, few seek to reclaim their valuables, as the ire of the crowfather is as legendary as their terrible form.

Luster Hoarders. Dragons are known for their obsession with treasure, golden coins and magical objects lying scattered about their legendary hordes. The dreaded Crowfathers have a similar drive, but place more value on the reflective, shimmering quality of the objects they covet over their perceived value. A perfectly polished steel plate may be held in higher regard than one of tarnished silver. A cunning adventurer may take advantage of the dragon’s obsession with their shining armor, offering a trade to get into their good graces.

Feathered Family. Crowfathers have a deep connection to crows, ravens, and other corvids and associated creatures. They act as both protectors and leaders of their kind, becoming the head of a massive family. This nature often takes the form of a sort of natural thieves guild, with the Crowfather’s children flocking to nearby areas to steal the shiniest objects to bring back to their patron to add to their growing horde. They have the uncanny ability to see and even speak through any of their kin, delivering ominous messages as well as offering jobs to those who may assist in their thievery. It is common for such cooperators to never see the dragon themself, their glimmering payment dropped from the sky by the ominous flock.

Murderous Grudge. While Crowfathers can be reasoned with, or at least bought with shiny objects, they are particularly vindictive when slighted or harmed. They will seek out those who have wronged them, sending their endless flocks and agents even when beyond the influence of their lairs. And should one harm their children, there is no earthly way to escape their wrath. It is said that a Crowfather’s grudge can outlast civilizations.

Deep in the dark forest of twisted trees, you spy a small crow perched on one of the barren branches. A chill runs down your spine as it silently regards you, its gaze filled with uncanny intent. To your surprise, its beak opens and an unsettling voice rings out. “Ah, more would-be adventurers here to steal our precious trinkets, or perhaps some new hires looking to work for our little family?” As you listen, more fluttering surrounds you, until the trees are flooded with more staring crows. “So what will it be?” asks the same voice from another perched creature, “Friend, or Foe?”
