A pair of heavy screws that pulse with powerful necromantic alchemy. 

It’s Alive! While holding this pair of magic items, you can cast the Raise Dead spell by inserting them into the body of a viable target. If successfully brought back to life, the creature is considered attuned to this magic item, which cannot be removed from its body unless it dies. This item gains the following additional properties while a creature is attuned to it:

Dread Return. Once per long rest, when you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. 

Galvanic Vitality. Anytime you would take lightning damage from a single source, you can use your reaction to absorb it. You take none of that damage and instead regain a number of hit points equal to the lightning damage dealt. When you do, you must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 10 or half the hit points regained (round up), whichever number is higher, up to a maximum DC of 30). On a failure you are stunned until the end of your next turn. Additionally, you regain a use of the Dread Return property. 

Once you use this property, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Curse. This item is cursed and attuning to it extends the curse to you. You remain cursed this way until you die or until it is removed by magic of 7th level or higher. You gain the following traits: 

• Your creature type becomes Undead. 

• Whenever you take fire damage from a single source you must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of its source until the end of your next turn.

Ah, quite the discerning eye you possess! Though dull at first glance, these little gadgets have the very substance of life itself coursing through them. The only pair in existence, I swear upon my honor, gifted to me ever so kindly by a doctor in a far off land, but I shan’t bore you with the details. Admittedly, he was reluctant to part with the culmination of his life’s work, but after some “negotiating” he was more than happy to part ways with them. You might even say I put the screws to him!
