Tolling Blade

Weapon (any sword or polearm), very rare (requires attunement by a cleric or paladin)

A hollow-bladed weapon with a bell in its center that strikes the edge when swung, ringing with a purifying tone. You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, which can be used as a holy symbol. Celestials, Fey, Fiends, and Undead take an additional 1d8 Thunder damage from attacks made with this weapon.

Warding Resonance. You can cast Protection from Evil and Good from this blade without material components or expending a spell slot. Once you cast the spell this way, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest or expend a spell slot of an appropriate level.

Cleansing Chime. You can use your action to ring its bell to emit a devastating toll. Each creature within a 30 foot emanation centered on you must make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, a creature takes 3d8 points of thunder damage and is stunned until the end of your next turn. On a successful save a creature takes half damage only. When a Celestial, Fey, Fiend, or Undead fails its save by 5 or more, you can choose to instead banish it to its plane of origin or the ethereal plane. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest or expend a use of your Channel Divinity to do so.

As the evil spirits descended upon them, the haggard party braced for their eldritch onslaught. A sudden chime rang out from their flank, originating from a whirling figure. Waves of resonant magic erupted from the robed stranger’s blade, buffeting the ghouls with cleansing energy. The newcomer, a temple priest, spun in a ritual dance, cutting down the stunned spirits and banishing them with divine purpose. The band rallied with renewed hope; they would not die this night.
