Armor (shield), very rare (requires attunement)
A buckler that seems to shift in accordance with the phases of the moon. You gain a +1 bonus to AC while holding this shield. This bonus is increased to +2 while under moonlight.
While holding this shield, you can use the property respective to the “phase” this shield is currently in. Whenever you do so, the shield moves to the next phase (New → Crescent → Half → Full). While under moonlight, the die used for this shield's properties is increased by one size (d6 → d8).
New. When another creature you can see within 60 feet of you is hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to add 1d6 to the creature’s AC until the start of its next turn, including against the triggering attack.
Crescent. As a bonus action, you can grant yourself a lunar blessing. The next D20 test you make gains a 1d6 bonus to the roll.
Half. When a creature you can see within 60 feet of you makes a D20 test, you can use your reaction to grant a 1d6 bonus to the roll.
Full. As an action you can choose up to 5 creatures within 60 feet of you. Each target regains 5d6 hit points.
Once you use the shield’s Full property, this shield loses all magical properties until you finish a long rest, at which point it enters its New phase.
Over the course of history, one fact remains clear: the moon protects. It wards those who bask in its light against evil, and reveals the true forms of tricksters and monsters so they may be thwarted or destroyed. When facing down against darkness, one need only seek shelter in its pale glow.
