For all the technological advancements in the field of instrument development, few musical tools surpass the original; the voice itself. Bards of the College of Vocals hone their singing voices to such a degree that they rival the finest pipes and strings, capable of conjuring magical effects with words alone. As their vocal talents harmonize with their arcane studies, the magic these bards wield is capable of bringing strength and comfort from afar just as easily as it can deliver fear and destruction. The voice is a powerful tool, and only those who master it can harness its full potential.
3rd level College of Vocals feature
When you choose this subclass at 3rd level, you can double your proficiency bonus for any ability check you make that requires you to sing or perform musically.
3rd level College of Vocals feature
At 3rd level, your vocal training blends with your arcane study, granting you the following features:
Vocalist. You can use your voice as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells. Additionally, whenever you cast a Bard spell that has a vocal component and no material components, you can ignore somatic components of the spell.
Piercing Tone. When you cast a spell that deals Thunder damage, you can have the spell deal maximum damage instead of rolling. Each creature that takes Thunder damage this way must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, the creature becomes Deafened for 1 minute. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
6th level College of Vocals feature
At 6th level, your voice carries power beyond normal limits, granting you the following features:
Booming Voice. You can cause your voice to increase in volume dramatically, able to be heard up to 1000 feet away.
Amplitude. When you cast a Bard spell that has a vocal component and no material components, you can double the range of the spell.
Resonance. While your Countercharm feature is active, affected creatures also gain a bonus to saving throws against being charmed or frightened equal to your Charisma modifier.
14th level College of Vocals feature
Absolute mastery of your voice enhances your arcane expression.
When you cast a Bard spell that has a vocal component and no material components, you can treat it as though it were cast at one spell level higher (without exceeding the highest spell level normally available to you). You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier before finishing a long rest.
