Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement)
A blade carved from a dragon’s fang, this weapon courses with elemental energy from deep within.
You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, which deals an additional 1d6 damage on a hit of the same type as the elemental affinity of the dragon the fang used to create this weapon was taken from (i.e. Red; Fire, Blue; Lightning, etc.).
Breath Splitter. When you make a saving throw against a damage-dealing spell or ability that affects an area you are in, you can use your reaction to make an attack roll to attempt to split the effect with this blade. If your attack roll is equal to or higher than the saving throw DC of the spell or ability, you automatically succeed on the saving throw and take no damage from the effect, and creatures in a 60-foot cone originating from you in the opposite direction of the origin of the area of effect also automatically succeed on the saving throw and take no damage.
You have advantage on the attack roll if the triggering effect’s damage matches this blade’s elemental affinity. If the spell or effect deals Psychic damage, you cannot split it with this property unless this blade’s elemental affinity is Psychic damage. Once you use this property, it can’t be used again until you finish a short or long rest.
The dragon reared, its chest engorged with blazing fire and flame. A moment later, it unleashed a searing inferno upon its newest challengers, eager to add them to the pile of charred bones that had begun to collect upon the floor of its lair. But as the smoke cleared, the silhouette of a warrior became clear, blade in hand; unscathed just like the rest of their companions. Incredulous, the dragon stepped back as the warrior stepped forth, speaking with a measured tone, “We’ve seen hotter.”
