Doll Personality Traits: Part One (Alpha 0.3)

Within the Manor of the Collector of Dolls, nearly all dolls within the manor undergo a variety of mental alterations, whether they be from magic items and monsters within the manor or from the direct work of the Collector herself. While these mental changes can come in a wide variety of forms, they most often appear as Doll Personality traits. These traits inherently cause a creature to be compelled to perform or avoid particular actions, providing inherent weaknesses that can be exploited. While these traits can be detrimental if gained by a player character, as the majority of creatures within the Collector's Manor have at least one of these traits, the ability determine the Doll Personality trait possessed by an NPC or monster can make or break the success of a given encounter or conversation.

The following are some of the many traits that doll NPCs may possess or that adventurers may gain by mind-altering effects within the manor of the Collector of Dolls.

Delicate: You are actively dislike exerting yourself physically and avoid any type of manual labor, heavy lifting, or strenuous physical activity. Reduce your Strength by -2. Additionally, if you would make a physicality roll for any reason, before making the roll, roll 1d3. On a roll of 1 or 2, you are compelled to refuse to perform the intended physical activity.

Giggly: You are prone to fits of giggles and can't help yourself but giggle uncontrollably when you hear or see something humorous. Whenever you hear or see something humorous, roll 1d6. On a roll of a 2, you must spend one hands worth of actions on your next turn giggling. On a roll of 1, you must spend two hands worth of actions on your next turn giggling.

Well-Mannered: You are incredibly well-behaved and well-mannered, always saying please and thank you. You are compelled to speak in a formal manner at all times. Additionally, you are incapable of making Diplomacy rolls with the intent to intimidate others.

Fashionista: You are incredibly fashion conscious and "need" to always wear new stylish outfits. You are compelled to wear overtly feminine clothing. If you are wearing clothing that you don't deem feminine and/or fashionable, each of your combat stats is reduced by -2. Additionally, if you wear an outfit for more than 24 hours, wearing that outfit provides this same -2 stat penalty until seven days have passed since you've worn that outfit.

Squeamish: You are easily repulsed by anything even remotely frightening or disgusting. If you ever see something you find disgusting or if you are afflicted with the frightened status condition, during your next turn, you are considered blinded as you are compelled to cover your eyes from the source of your disgust or fear.

Girl's Girl: You are outwardly proud of femininity and are repulsed by activities and actions you find masculine. Additionally, you find it inherently difficult to speak with those who aren't female. You are compelled to avoid activities that you interpret as masculine. Additionally, when interacting with humanoid creatures who aren't female, reduce the results of diplomacy and subtlety rolls you make by -5.

Tattle Tale: You can't help but tell others secrets you learn. In some cases, you have been known to spread this information to those in positions of power in attempts to gain favor. Whenever you learn a secret, roll 1d3. On a roll of a 1, you are compelled to tell another creature that secret. If you tell a creature in a position of power, each of your combat stats increases by +1 for the next 24 hours. (You may only benefit from this +1 bonus once per 24 hours).

Crybaby: You are incredibly emotional and prone to bouts of waterworks whenever you feel threatened or feel pain. Whenever you're dealt damage, roll 1d6. On a roll of a 1, you burst into tears and spend a one-handed action sobbing as a one-handed action. During that turn, you may spend an additional one-handed action to intentionally cry loudly, immediately alerting all creatures within thirty spaces of your location.

Codependent: You're affectionate to others to the point that many would describe you as clingy, and you hate being alone. If an ally isn't within two spaces of you, each of your combat stats is reduced by -1. However, if an ally with at least one level in Doll is within two spaces of you, each of your combat stats is increased by +1.

Spoiled: You love being the center of attention, receiving praise, and being given gifts. Whenever you're given a gift or if a creature targets you with a beneficial spell, ability, or item, each of your combat stats increases by +1 until the end of the turn. (This ability only triggers once per turn rotation). However, if a turn rotation passes and you haven't been given a gift or no creature has targeted you with a beneficial spell, ability, or item, each of your combat status are reduced by -1 during your turn.

Materialistic: You're rather shallow and materialistic and collect a wide variety of pretty items and clothing. Each of your combat stats is reduced by -1. However, whenever you obtain a new item with a value of at least 100 gold, each of your combat stats get +1 for the next hour. This ability can trigger up to three times at once.

High Maintenance: You just don't feel quite like yourself unless you've dedicated significant time to pampering yourself and preparing your appearance. If you haven't spent at least one hour of a given day preparing your outfit, makeup, hair, etc, whenever you'd make a resolve roll, roll twice and use the lower result.

Trendy: You can't help but follow popular trends beloved by other dolls around you. If you see three or more dolls within five spaces of you perform a specific type of action, roll 1d3. On a roll of 1, you are compelled to spend your next turn performing that same action as well.
