Silly little animation in 3 steps :
1: a sketch animation to see what will happen and put the timing, trajectory and effect, so the final result will take these settings.
2: details, when the sketch is okay I can put the details, use another layer to add details, don't hesitate to use many for each to not get lost !
3: colors, when all is finished I can put the colors on my character :)
Never forget to make a sketch animation, if you put details on an animation that doesn't looks good or is not how you wanted it to look, you will loose some precious time and never forget that a well draw character mixed with a bad acting is a bad animation, even if your character is right !!

on the 3DS it's speed 8 for me, also no truck but a mix of the two, how you pace your frames, the amount you creat, all is different, the speed can make it smooth but you have to see if you didn't put too much frames too =) (sorry for the late reply too ^^')
