Credits Weirdness

Heya Sprocket's Patrons! There was a glitch with my new credits system that debuted recently. A few random peoples' names disappeared from the credits. I honestly am not sure why, but when I redid them the second time, the missing names are back. Thanks to those of you who let me know about this problem! I wouldn't have caught it.

It's slightly unsettling that I don't know exactly what happened but if, starting next week, you find your name missing, please don't hesitate to let me know.

One other thing- the new Annual Memberships have borked the filters in Patreon that previously allowed me to include everyone who pledges $10 or more, regardless of Tier. Because of that, I'm forced to limit the credits to the Sprocket tier. Some of you have manually-entered pledges that are not on a tier, or you are technically on a lower tier but have edited your pledge manually to $10+. Patreon is not smart enough to handle this, so if you (for example) manually entered a $20 pledge, or manually modified a $5 Tier into a $10 pledge without actually setting your Tier to Sprocket's Patrons, you won't be in the credits anymore. My apologies for this, but there seems to be no easy way around it at the moment. If you suspect this issue affects you, let me know and I can help you fix it. Here are instructions to set your Tier if you think you might need to:

You can still have any pledge amount you want, but you need to be on the Sprocket's Patrons Tier to be in the credits. So if you're a $20 pledger, you can set yourself to Sprocket, then manually modify it to $20 to remain in the credits. I hope that makes sense. This is a bug Patreon has had since day one and it's frustrating but here we are.

I'm reprocessing the videos for the remainder of August now, and from September onward, hopefully there won't be random people missing aside from the aforementioned Tier problem. Let me know if you find otherwise.

Thanks everyone!

Good question! There is, in fact, a CSV dump which is what my Python script reads to generate a credits file which can be imported into Final Cut. However the supplied CSV data does not distinguish between annual membership and “monthly equivalent” of that annual membership. It’s just a single column labeled “pledge”. That’s the same reason the Patreon filters no longer work. In principle I could do some hackery like detecting large pledge amounts, assume they are annual, then divide by 12 to generate a tier equivalence but I haven’t tried that yet. It wouldn’t be a perfect solution, since large monthly and low annual pledges actually overlap.

Probably idealistic of me to hope, but I assume there’s no raw data dump or report you could load into a DB and query against?

Oh that's weird. Patreon's user interface is clearly not all up to date with the new annual membership feature. Not to worry, you won't be getting charged monthly. :D

FYI When I follow the link to here, in the top right corner, with your logo it says "$54 per month" !! That was a shock. When I look in my account details level and $54 annual all looks correct.
