Johnny Mnemonic CPU Board Repair

Hey Patrons! Since a lot of you are new, you may not be following the RSS feed on my blog, and thus might miss my new post. Here it is, just in case:

https://blondihacks.com/johnny-cpu-board-repair/

You would not be remiss for thinking the blog was abandoned, based on the most recent post dates, but it is still active. It has taken a back seat to growing the YouTube channel, but I still love to write and my electronics projects are keeping their home on the blog. Once the YouTube channel is bigger and a little more self-sufficient, I'll have more time for the blog. Until then, here's a new post to keep it warm.

That's a great question. Some video makers do post them all here on Patreon as well. I've never been sure if people appreciate that, or if it would be a bother. I'll take a poll!

I've been a fan of the webpage for a while, and recently became a Patron. I really liked the reminder post about the blog and I was wondering if you had considered do the same for your videos? I realize there are pluses and minuses, including the extra work to create a Patreon post, and the potential of annoying patrons who can just active the notification function for YouTube videos.

I have an old Williams Travel Time pinball machine that I restored many years ago. But it's totally mechanical - all solenoids and relays, and makes the coolest clunking noises. You're absolutely right about maintainability. I had my doubts when I was offered the machine, but man, the documentation! No questions at all - you can just get right to work. I'm not sure I'd have the guts to try maintaining a newer machine like Johnny Mnemonic. Great post! :-)

Yah, some more modern battery technology would be a good idea.

Windows. 😬

I came here to report the same thing. In case it helps: curl -H 'User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0' https://blondihacks.com/feed/ | grep 'johnny-cpu-board-repair'

Hang right the heck on.... Machinist AND electronics? Ma'am what don't you do??

MV Dragonfly

So glad you had that warning up, because looking at that board it felt like the perfect time to panic! Never read your blog before and didn't expect it to be the equal of your videos - both as enlightening and entertaining - but it was! Great writing, I will certainly return for the next one. PS have you considered replacing the batteries with lithium ion cells to cut down on the yearly replacements?

I hate to add to the "might have to be repaired" list - but that blog post doesn't show up in the RSS feed (yes, that's the one in https://blondihacks.com/feed/ - I saw you moved the blog a while ago, but just in case). The latest post in the feed is "Veronica - F18A Font". Or is my reader wonky and it's my "to be repaired" pile? Otherwise, enjoying your electronics while the compiler runs :)

Let's just say... a lot of things in my life are decorative. 😬

Blondihacks

Oh, that's a delight. And the VERY NEXT TIME that something at work goes all non-functional, I'm going to calmly report that it has "become decorative."
