2021-07-07 16:19:02 +0000 UTCThat'd ruin the whole point of why we like the shogun as a character in the first place so I hope it's not the case, rather I think the scar is actually small enough to not be notable unless you really focus on it which is why Maizo said only he and the ninjas know about it, Shigeshige spent those six months with the ninjas in recovery specifically so that there wouldn't be any ruckus over the shogun getting injured. Sorachi didn't intent for it to be that kind of cool scar you usually see in these types of shows (but it's also likely true that he did that knowing that he hadn't planned ahead enough to draw him with a scar before lol)

While it’s likely just something Sorachi came up with for this arc, there is a theory that the Shogun in those episodes was not the Shogun, but a double (notice the only time he had his shirt on the entire episode were the latter episodes of the Courtesan of a Nation arc).
