My Afternoon Off in New Orleans

Houston was a bit tough; I had a bout of food poisoning that wrecked me for a full 24 hours. It was 5pm before the show when I was worried I wasn’t going to manage to scrape myself out of bed. And then of course there was the intense storm… lighting slapping the windows of my 20th floor hotel room. I was wondering if the city would shut down events, which would have felt like a blessing at the time, as I was soooooo sick. But alas, I pulled myself together with a hot shower, multiple types of anti nausea medication, headache pills and eating bananas and vegetable broth. By the time I hit the stage and saw all those beaming faces in the audience, I felt MUCH better. I would never want to admit being sick before the show, and would never want to let anyone down. I felt revived by the energy that greeted me onstage.
Last night I arrived in New Orleans last night, and had my first proper meal, and I feel 100% again. I made this little video of my afternoon off today. It felt great to walk around all day. I can’t wait for tomorrow night’s show!

I’m so happy you finally made back to New Orleans. I first saw you live at the House of Blues for the “Strip Strip Hooray” show, so I jumped at the chance to see you again at the “Glamonatrix” show, and it was as elegant, glamorous and brilliant as I’d hoped it would be. Thank you for being such a powerful symbol of expression, and glamour.
