HEXROLL 2E - beta build #5 - No-spoilers, 3D dice and improved page editing

Greetings Brave Adventurers,

Just in time for your weekend games, here's the 5th beta update with exciting new features covering solo gameplay, VTT and content editing.

The new no-spoilers mode was added specifically for solo gaming, but is also fun around the table. You can turn no-spoilers mode on from the toggles toolbar in the hex map. When it is on, secrets in the content will be masked until you hover your mouse over them for more than a second.

I also added a 3D dice roller that you can use with or without a VTT session. You can toggle the dice roller using the toggles toolbar or by using the shortcut key [R]. You can then click the die you wish to roll on the dice toolbar or use one of the following shortcut keys:

Any roll you make as a referee or as a player will be broadcasted to anyone sharing your VTT room.

I also improved the built-in page editor and made the transition in and out of editing much smoother. The new shortcut [Ctrl+E] will get you quickly into editing and the [Esc] key will let you quickly leave the editor without saving. The existing [Ctrl+S] shortcut can be used to save any changes.

There's also a new Notes style that can help you differentiate your casual game notes.

Here's the full change log:

HEXROLL 2E - beta build #5 - No-spoilers, 3D dice and improved page editing

Comments

When you configure 'Wandering Monsters' HD in the generator settings, you're only limiting the wandering monster tables (and wandering monsters tend to be unexpected and less avoidable). Other dungeon encounters are set according to the dungeon type and dungeon location. Generally speaking, smaller dungeons a less likely to host tougher monsters. Depending on your refereeing style, you can always re-roll a room or an encounter on the spot, or edit the number of monster if you don't want the party to step into their doom.

I've noticed that despite me intentionally setting "maximum HD" of, say, 2......the dungeons very often have 4, 5 or even 6 HD monsters, sometimes quantity 5 or 6 of them, sometimes with full hit points! Very, very deadly encounters for low level parties. Is that intentional? Edit: Oh, that's wandering monster maximum HD. Is there a way to set the maximum HD of the entire dungeon, to reduce the lethality of the encounters? Or is that part of the editing of generator behavior you mentioned above?

Hiya David \o/ Renaming entities is not supported yet. Any changes you make to a page using editing are local and static. They will not modify the underlying entities data. There will be more editing capabilities added to 2E, and yes, contributing content and even changing the generator behavior is going to be a part of the upcoming Scroll Modules feature. Stay tuned for more on this very soon ;)

I'm quite sure this has been asked (and answered) elsewhere, but... I'm trying to figure out how to edit the names of locations. I can see how to edit in the Table of Contents (with the quill), but when I change the name of an area it doesn't reflect on the map--it still shows the original (randomly generated) name. Also, I have lists of cool names of people and places that I'd love to "donate" to this project for random NPC / location placement. Would you be interested, and how can I add them?
