Beta update #8 is now live with an option to generate smaller dungeons, some useful map orientation features, and a new flavorful map theme.
Featuring the art of Andrew Sheppard, the new map theme required a pretty strenuous optimization effort to bring out all the wonderful raster art detail in vector format. I'm super happy we're at a point where we can commission art and content, and I plan to do this more and more as we progress.
If you're not a fan of mega-dungeons, you will find the new option to generate smaller dungeons quite useful. Choosing 'Prefer small dungeons' in the generator window will limit the dungeons and caves generator parameters and will generate (mostly) small dungeons and caves. This preference will not apply when re-rolling.
If you do opt for smaller dungeons, then I recommend generating more dungeons than the suggested default.
Hex coordinates can now be displayed as labels on the hex map by toggling the labels mode, either by using the toggle button, or by pressing the 'L' key.
Hexes can now also be searched for using their coordinates in the search box.
Lastly, if you use VTT and want to ensure all players are looking at the same hex as you are, you can do so by pressing 'J' when you have a hex selected in crawl-mode.
Here's the full change log:
New Features
The generator window now has 'prefer small dungeons' option
A new 'brave adventurers'-tier map theme was added
Hex coordinates labels were added as another labels mode
You can now search for a specific hex using its coordinates
Use the 'J' to move your players map to your currently viewed hex
The matching versions of Hexroll Backpack will be pushed to github and to hexroll.app during the weekend.
Enjoy the crawl!
