RWBY Volume 6 Chapter 5 Notes
Added 2018-12-01 17:00:05 +0000 UTC- Though this and the previous episode have been relatively shorter than usual, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them and felt the pacing was on-point. It seems Miles and Kerry have cut most of the filler from their scripts. A lot of the Volume 4 and especially Volume 5 chapters were only 17+ minutes because they were so bloated and padded.
- And no, this episode doesn’t have filler. It has setup. There is a fucking difference.
- Still not sure on the episode title since we’re already had “A Perfect Storm.” Then again, we’ve also had “Forever Fall,” “Fall,” and “Downfall.” Whatever.
- I’m kinda sad this encounter with Neo was so quick. I was kinda hoping we’d get a couple episodes of Cinder on the run hiding from Neo, showing her desperation. But this works too.
- Neo’s model looks kinda odd in Maya. I think it’s the hair. It looks kinda like a polygon just thrown onto her head, and there’s one very brief instance of it clipping through her face.
- But she rocks the bowler hat oh my god.
- That said, HOLY HELL THIS FIGHT IS SO GOOD. THAT CHOREOGRAPHY AND THE SONG.
- Some people didn’t like that Cinder waited to bust out the Maiden powers, but she was trying to keep a low profile. She only used them to get Neo to back off when it became clear she wouldn’t stop.
- Also people who hate this episode just because of Neo, I do agree Neo has been super overrated, but now she has a legitimate motivation: avenging Roman.
- That, and Jeremy thought Roman and Neo were the sole survivors from Brunswick Farms, which does kinda explain their worldview. I certainly hope it’s the case.
- God this farm is creepy, and the blizzard adds to the eerie atmosphere. If I saw the Nuckelavee walk outta that blizzard, I’d shit myself.
- Why is this show so good at horror specifically?
- And cue the corpses. That’s terrifying. At first I thought their eyes were gouged out because of how blacked out their eyelids were.
- People have also pointed out both Weiss and Yang complained about being tired, and they were the first ones to encounter the corpses. Oh dear.
- Blake giving Weiss the blanket makes me kinda like Monochrome, I’m not gonna lie.
- The Simpsons Monorail song except it’s Monochrome.
- Storytime with Grandma Calavera! I wonder if it’s gonna be about the Silver Eyed Warriors.
- Let’s just hope it’s better than Storytime with Mama Raven. God, fuck “Known by its Song.”
- Blake and Yang marching through the snow. “GO LESBIANS, GO.” I mean Blake would more likely be bi, but whatever.
- Oh this scene. It hurts. My heart. Blake holding Yang’s hands, and Yang wanting to be able to protect herself… oh my heart. This will not end well.
- Admittedly I thought for a second this was confirmation of Adam legit following them, but he was in his old outfit, which is very odd considering he had a hood Blake had never seen him in back on the train.
- I do think Watts and his crew (Hazel, Tyrian, Emerald, and Mercury) will head to Argus and encounter Team JNR (Watts and Tyrian can get tickets since they aren’t wanted), while Cinder and Neo will prob have to get to Argus on foot since they’re wanted criminals and will come across Brunswick Farms that way. My only question is whether Adam was on the train and is in Argus, or if Cinder and Neo will approach him about an alliance in Mistral.
- God fuck these inconsistencies.
- Ruby acknowledging her uncle’s alcoholism, and then Weiss processing it and connecting it to her mother’s alcoholism… god that hurts.
- Oh do not open that cellar. There is a fucking demon down there, waiting for them to fall asleep.
- Oh my god a Grimm that’s the embodiment of alcoholism. From the cellar it whispers “One more glass.”
