432. Directorpiece Theatre: The Slow Death Of Final Destination

In this spooky episode, Abe points out the two types of Final Destination deaths and breaks them down. The hosts discuss the slow decline of sequels and how a franchise’s choices try to keep their irrelevance at bay. Also, what’s Death’s deal? Can it operate machinery or not? Do a Rube Goldberg machine or not, Death, c’mon.

You know, I once read somewhere that Vince Gilligan got started writing for X-Files by submitting an unsolicited spec script that got turned into an episode starring Tony Shalhoub and he went on to become a staff writer. I believe he'd written a feature (a weird X-Files adjacent comedy called Wilder Napalm) by that point though, so maybe that contributed to their taking him seriously. Doug Hutchison (the creepy paedo actor who played Tooms) also submitted a script starring his character, but apparently they returned it unread. Maybe they just didn't like Doug Hutchison, or maybe the policy was to *only* read unsolicited scripts from outsiders? No idea, but it's super weird.
