2021-02-23 15:52:04 +0000 UTCBit late to this one, but have any of you seen Limmy's Show? For my money probably the best sketch show we've had over here this millennium. On whether Peep Show is big over here, yeah basically everyone I know (millenials) grew up watching it and it's referenced quite often. 'it was a Christmas joke' and 'that wasn't very christmassy' abound at this time of year. From the sketch show, 'Hans, are we the baddies' is a pretty common react on UK Twitter, although I think the sketch shows popularity took a bit of a hit from Robert Webb being a bit unpopular amongst the demographic who were into Peep Show because of his incessantly centrist political takes.

It's a mix between Peep show and the British sitcom "the inbetweeners" but less cringy. Side note, I'm impressed that you got through a whole podcast about Peep show without mentioning Marks boss Johnson!

Hearing your takes from not it just being 'normal tv' is SUPER interesting. As an aside, David Mitchell is regarded as a national treasure both here and VERY MUCH in the UK. edit: reading this back, it sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not. I genuinely had a great time listening to your POV. Also, I have no schadenfreude and really dislike media which is mean or embarrassing and don't find it funny, but Peep Show has always somehow escaped that and it was enlightening to hear thoughts on why that may be.

2020-11-10 02:47:10 +0000 UTCI love That Mitchell & Webb Look, and I have watched most of Peep Show (6 or 7 seasons - all that were on Netflix at the time that I watched). Peep Show is so uncomfortable to watch, so I do prefer the sketch show. But with distance, I do appreciate Peep Show. As you've mentioned, the show "abuses" its audience. I do feel a bit like my relationship with Peep Show is an abusive one.
