336. I'll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours: Movies That Need A Rewatch

Our patrons have spoken! This episode covers films that are improved by a second watching. Adam’s approach examines how films seen in the right state of mind alters how it resonates with you. Maggie touches on how the marketing and expectation of a film will tarnish your initial viewing. This description writer’s takeaway is that we should never market films and only watch them when they’re relevant to your life. Adam made Maggie a cup of tea! Adam’s plants are doing okay, mostly!

336. I'll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours: Movies That Need A Rewatch

I wonder if Jennifer's Body's queer premise could be revealed with a flashback to the two leads in elementary school picking one another for those kiddie Valentine's Day cards. If it were laid out as an innocent demonstration of a strong childhood friendship, it could gently hint at a then-future sexual relationship.

As to unjustified killing of women in movies, what about the "dead hooker" trope, especially of comedies? It's such a screenplay cliche that when you want some bad event that bonds the male characters together, kill a hooker and forget about it: there are never repercussions, no grieving family to address, just a throwaway woman who can be killed for no good reason.

No, you're amazing!

I think I might have been way too happy to hear my producer shout out. Made my week!

It was actually my Father Jacob Emory who is accredited as inventor of the fingernail file, also Board and I are no longer friends

Jake Emory

I think they didn't kill the band cause of the rules of the summoning.

I also think the film shows us how much power we give hot women over us, even those of us into men.

Harry Moore

I think this film trusts its audience (Jennifer's Body)

It is weird that we can understand the subtext of Jason and whatnot and don't need it shouted at us but we gotta justify why an evil succubus killing horny guys who chase the hotgirl for her surface beauty is killing guys. Like victims don't need to fully deserve their killing. Horror is sort of our cautionary myths in the vein of the old fairy tales and folklore.

Harry Moore

I think Adam was over thinking motive in regards to Jennifer's body. The only revenge killing is the ending when the band gets wiped. I think the movie is more horror (demon killing to keep her health) less revenge thriller

Watching clips of Diablo Cody and Megan Fox discuss the marketing for Jennifer's body is a bit heartbreaking 💔
