389. Directorpiece Theatre: The Horrible Production of 1996’s Twister

Abe brings the story of the plagued production of Jan de Bont’s Twister. Not only was it rife with poor weather conditions and rough terrain, but choices made by the production and director made work unbearable for the cast and crew. Adam and Abe also discuss the purview of the director, when it’s invalid, and how to fight for your vision without compromising safety.

Great ep, great discussion! I try not to think too much about Herzog, especially about his friendship with Kinski, amongst other things

Any time someone mentions vic morrow i feel compelled to tell people about Combat! His breakout starring role. The show that was band of brothers in the 60s and criminally underrated .(also one of the bigger career starters for a Ton of big directors like Robert Altman and richard donner) first season in particular is a very critical look even at acts of violence in ww2 and had such a consistent chronology that if you saw a guest star in episode 2 theyd likely die on camera by episode 5 etc at a time when episodic was the name of the game.

Wow you'd think the DP of Roar who himself had his scalp literally peeled back by an actual lion would empathize with set safety needs.
