505. Star Trek: The Next Futurama 29 - Anthology of Interest I

If you forgot, this show takes a Futurama episode and thematically pairs it with an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, which works surprisingly well.

This episode Michael and David discuss how precious anuses are as well as Michael’s recent run in with allergies. Also, Dave got a new “hang down” but you’ll have to listen to the episode to understand that reference. This time, we cover the classic episode “Anthology of Interest I.”

This show exclusively releases every other episode here on the Small Beans patreon. Wimmy Wam Wam Wozzle!

Solution change where you walk the dog.

Your discussion of thought experiments reminded me of the time I was very stoned as a teen and had the thought “it’s almost like the sky is a shell around the earth.” Moments later I remembered what the atmosphere is.

I clapped at the end. You couldn't hear because it's a podcast.

Antha Auciello

I love joke roulette! The laughter and joy you both bring to it definitely comes across. It makes me very happy

My ex girlfriend was the most stoic person I’ve ever met. I’ve watched her wipe the snot off another person’s nose cause they didn’t have a tissue. She was absolutely distraught when she got a poison ivy rash. Ducked taped oven mitts to her hands to remind herself to fuck off and just continue to be insane with physical discomfort. I’m immune to poison ivy. I can wipe my ass with that beautifully lush leaf without so much as a tickle (on my asshole). I’m gloating. I’m sorry for what you’re feeling Mike, I’ve seen a wonderful person have an incredible and fucked up meltdown from this plant. I’ve reacted otherwise. I’m gloating. Bye.

“oh there’s no solution, life is just bad now” lmao(?)

The "throwaway" painting scene in A Matter of Perspective always makes me a little sad on rewatches, because Picard is never shown painting again, and I take that to mean that Data accidentally crushed Picard's interest.

Sharing in the delight at Futurama's humor is a delightful respite. I look forward to Joke Roulette every episode.

Joshua Graves

Definitely keep Joke Roulette. My favorite section.

Steve Snyder

Applause for Michael's hosting!!

Nicholas Fabian

Both have an invention that will change their universes. For Star Trek, the kappa waves. For Futurama, the thing longer.

Russell Bauman

Yes! Best pod ever.

So sorry about the poison oak Mike. My father-in-law got poison oak earlier this year and swears by the hot water trick. He said the itching would go away for hours after a few minutes under very hot water.

Adam by the Birch

Probably good that we can't taste with our fingers.
