510. Escape from the Multicurse: Space Jam

Our three co-hosts are stuck in the multiverse and need to get back to their home universe. Clearly, the only way to do that is to explore our cultural obsession with multiverses, alternate timelines and parallel worlds, and tie it all into a conversation about post-modern art, pop culture, and the lessons these stories teach us. Also, each episode, one of them is an asshole who will probably sabotage the whole thing.

This week, we discuss 1996’s Space Jam!

Comments

The only downfall of having Disney do it I think would be that Mickey and Donald and Goofy and all of them would be way too cutesy and childish whereas tweens and teens can watch the Looney tunes

Late listening to this episode, but the “Tunes performing for an audience” argument reminded me of an issue of Animal Man by Grant Morrison, titled “The Coyote Gospel”. It basically has Wile E Coyote realize that the Looney Tunes existence is hell and he agrees to suffer in the real world to bring peace to the other cartoons.

I'd love to know when that story about Mac happened, because that exact story was in an episode of Community

On the Small Beans page, to the right of the drop-down filters for Media Type, Tier, and Month, you'll see a field for "Search Posts." Type in the name or part of the name, e.g. "Coen" and click the magnifying glass or hit Enter.

Is there a sorting function for the different podcasts?… Or is everything under small beans. I occasionally binge different small beans series and scrolling 510 plus episodes is a tad tedious

I really hope yall know that just this week Warner Bros release a SSB clone called multiversus with the exact premise that WB's creations make up a multiverse and including Space Jam as one of their multiverses.
