October 2017 Report

The external world finally eased up on me, with the construction work done at the new studio. However, I learned that there's a limit to how much I can push my body and mind making up for the lost time. Recently, it just gave out with fatigue. I've switched tactics and am working consistently every day, but now I give myself more time to sleep, eat and exercise. In result, I had to forgo the warmup sketches and devote mornings to commissions, and put less time into personal projects. It's a temporary fix, because freeform sketching and own projects are what makes me able to work well for clients, but I had to deal with a lot of cleanup jobs requiring raw time investment.
The public-facing side of my galleries will stay the same, I have all of November ready to go with another multi-picture series that you will be able to download in full this Sunday (12 October). And late in November there's a multi-image commission I can't wait to share as well. It's just that auxiliary posts like sketches, knight mentions, other rewards and the secret project are delayed later into the month.
I'm looking forward to spending another full day finishing up pencils for Over the Peaks and Chasms. I think I will go with a speedy shading technique that I tried out in the Halloween special comic. As much as I like OtPaC, it's better to finish it and move on, all the while working on polished lineart for commissioned comics. We're still at the early stages of this patreon and there's lots of experimenting and learning to do.
We've hit the goal of One Year of Applied Self-Study! I'm preparing the curriculum in a presentable format and will publish it with the first batch of exercises and sketches in late November or early next month. For a year, this will overtake the patreon-funded comics in terms of importance, all the more reason to finish OtPaC soon;)
