How Interested are you in the Archive Episodes? #1-355
Added 2020-01-18 20:33:21 +0000 UTCThis is more of a temperature check/brainstorm on how interested Patrons are in having access to those old episodes inside a podcast feed.
MAKE SURE to watch the lens videos I posted about this ( they will be up until 12pm PST on 1/19/2020)
TLDR- Are you interested in having access to those older episodes or not?
Over the past few years, I have put a significant investment into trying to edit all the older episodes and the metadata in order to try to find a way to make them accessible. Due to a variety of behind the scenes technical and $$ limitations, this has not been possible. I am slowly getting to the point where we might be able to test out some solutions. Because of the size of this project and all the costs involved it will be limited to the $10+ feed when we find something that works. This will also be an ongoing project as even if we get this up and running there will still be a few years before we get all the episodes remastered and uploaded. But ideally you would have access to every episode, even the napcasts, right away, they would just be the original release.
So if you are interested please take this poll!
If you a wondering why all of the archives are not available-
The patron feed goes back to about episode 355 because that is when Patreon started offering the podcast feed as a reward. Up to this point, there has been no way to backfill that feed. Hopefully, we are close to a solution.
Also episodes, before mid 2016 were mixed and edited in a different way and episodes from 2013-2015, were really not properly mixed as I was still learning what I was doing.
Some of the older shows are on youtube, soundcloud and archive.org for free, but that only goes back so far.
For the free podcast feed having more than 300 episodes would make the feed too large and some podcast apps would crash. Also having more episodes than that also would likely increase the bandwidth costs of the show beyond what the advertising could cover.
Sorry this is a lot of jargon that could be confusing!!! Thanks!!!
