I think it might have been the HDR, but still curious what you think.

Wow, I've seen a couple quick and dirty skin texture methods, but nothing that had results this good at this speed. You continue to impress! I want to use this with every model going forward that doesn't have PBR textures.

I tried to replicate the scene exactly and in rendered view in the viewport it looks gainer than your version and when I render it out, the effect is pretty muted.
Since I see you don't have a lamp I tried brightening the world ambient light and then added an HDR and tried with and without a lamp. I also tried with a subdivided cube and a subdivided UV sphere as well as before and after UV unwrapping.
Any idea what I might have missed? I'll link the file below in case you want to take a look since that might be quicker to see the difference. (I'll remove the link and this part after you answer so you don't have to worry about other ppl grabbing it.)
