Halloween Giant Spider Dimensions

Attached below is a printable PDF file with the dimensions for building our giant spider! Each leg has three segments that are all a slightly different size and when we built our spider we researched different types and sizes of spiders so we could get the proportions exactly how we wanted them.

You can scale it bigger or smaller to fit your needs, but getting the different leg proportions right will definitely help your giant spider look extra spooky and awesome.

The wire inside the leg should be at least 12" longer than the overall length of the leg. This gives you some length at the front to connect to the body, as well as some extra length at the end you can stick into the ground/grass to hold the leg up in the position you want it in.

Getting a PDF Error?
A handful of people have reported having issues downloading the PDF from a phone. We're not sure why as this seems to work fine for most people but occasionally give someone trouble. If you're having issues, tour best bet is to download the PDF from a computer.

How much Spray Foam do you need?
We used 5-6 cans of spray foam to make ours but some folks on our Facebook group are using 12+! This will depend how thick you lay it on, your technique with the foam spray can, and how big your spider body is. If you've never used the material before, definitely err on the side of more cans. (You can always use them for something else if you don't need all of them.)

How did we stand the spider up off the ground?
There's a couple of options. When we first made it, we hammered two pieces of rebar into the ground about 2' apart, and then painted some PVC black and put it on top of the rebar. At the top of the PVC we put 'T' connectors and then balanced the spider on them. It worked fine and looked good, but it was kind of a pain. Year 2, we just put a black milk crate underneath and it never looked back. :) You can barely see it and it looked fine and was WAY easier. It also let us move it around easily!

Enjoy!

Loved this one, had to take up the challenge and make my own scary spider. Not sure how to share but it came out cool for a beginner.

Comfy Headboard

Good catch! Thank you
