Wicked January: TRANSWORLD Halloween Expo & Making a THING animatronic!
Added 2023-01-17 15:01:16 +0000 UTCHey y'all! We've been working the last few weeks on a new animatronic makeover where we're turning the crawling monster hand from Spirit Halloween into Thing T. Thing from the Addams Family/Wednesday!
It originally came with a loose/badly painted latex glove and our initial plan was just to repaint it and maybe add the scars/sutures. In the end we decided to actually sculpt a brand new hand from clay, create a plaster mold, and cast a new latex glove and paint it that way. (So glad we did...)
So much of this we've never done that we actually called in an expert prop maker who'll be featured in this week's video and walking us through the process. It's crazy cool to see it come together!
There have definitely been some challenges along the way but we've really leveled up our skills on this project and we're super excited to share it with you.
Recently we did a poll/question on YouTube and a lot of you asked for slightly longer videos, so we're going to try to add a bit more detail into the project vids going forward. They take a bit longer to edit but it'll be fun to include more stuff so we'll see how it goes.
We're aiming for around 20 minutes.

TRANSWORLD HALLOWEEN EXPO 🎃 Feb 2-5, 2023
This is the biggest Halloween show of the year and we'll be there! If you're going to we'd love to see you so leave a comment or feel free to find us and say hello.
We'll be there Thursday through Sunday and will be walking around filming content/videos. It's going to be a blast.
The new video comes out Friday so we'll see you in the comments!

Its great to be able to modify up a Spirit prop but more often than not if a major overhaul is needed having these new casting skills will help us all level up our haunts and effects. I was looking at the Stanwinston school https://www.stanwinstonschool.com/ but lack of extra cycles to commit to that has me appreciating these videos. Also animatronics building off that Minecraft video [that should have been better received] incorporating movement into custom props is also great. New Longer Format! - Wicked Makers Special Directors Cut! 20min is awesome and I am sure am speaking for everyone we appreciate the extra work on the editing. These are huge leaps into 2023 and I only wish I could make it to Transworld this year but I know you will deliver us the good, bad and what you think you can do better!
