Sneak Peak: SPRINGTRAP Animatronic and CRAZY October Update!

Hey y'all! It has been a WILD month so far...

About two weeks ago we got hit with the largest hail storm in the history of our city and we were right in the middle of it! We had softball size hail hit our house for about 30 minutes and it completely smashed our roof, destroyed both our vehicles, broke windows in our home, it was crazy. Luckily nobody was hurt but cleaning up after it and dealing with insurance, etc. has been a huge distraction that we didn't expect to be dealing with during Halloween!

(Luckily, we hadn't put any of our decorations outside yet though...phew!)

October is also Jaimie's birthday, our son's birthday, our ten year wedding anniversary, we're helping with a Halloween event at our son's school, and now we're trying to replace our vehicles and deal with broken house in the middle of making videos and just trying to enjoy the holiday...it's been a lot. 😅

But through all the madness...IT IS STILL SPOOKY MONTH! 👻🎃💀 and we're going to make the BEST OF IT like always.

So what are we building?! We're making a Springtrap animatronic! If you have kids or if you're a fan of indie horror, you're likely aware of Five Nights at Freddy's and one of the main characters (and one of our most requested builds) is "Springtrap". He's basically a big Chuck-e-Cheese, mascot-style animatronic and one of the main villains from the series.

This character is also special because instead of just being an animatronic, it actually has the body of the villain inside the suit so it's a great Halloween build. Also, the Five Nights at Freddy's movie comes out at the end of the month!

We started with an animatronic Skeleton from Target (which is actually pretty cool!). We first corpsed it and then have been slowing building the giant suit that will go around him. We're using a combination of fabric, foam, and 3D printing to construct everything to be as accurate to the character as possible, like usual.

As of writing this, we've had a combination of some pleasant surprises mixed with utter failures on the build, so it'll be an interesting video for sure. On one hand, it's looking great and we're excited about it, on the other hand, there are some critical things that just aren't working at all that have been huge set backs that we, as of today, have no solution for.......

But that is every project, isn't it? We're not 100% sure it will come out exactly the way we wanted it to, but we ARE 100% confident we'll work through the problems and figure something out no matter what. That's just how we roll.
