Wiper Motor PVC Mount - 3D Printing STL File

Hey all! As seen in our CatNap animatronic video, I designed a custom wiper motor mount for 1" pvc pipe and here is the file! It gives you a way to sturdily attach your wiper motor parallel to your PVC so you can build your own animatronics!

You can see this in action here: https://youtu.be/Fh6mimCibhQ (around the 3:00 mark!)

It has three holes to mount to the PVC that were designed for M3 (3mm) bolts. They're a bit oversized to allow for positioning and a little flex in the pipe.

It also has three holes to mount a wiper motor. I designed it specifically to fit this particular wiper motor: https://www.frightprops.com/electric-motors/motors/dual-speed-high-torque-prop-motor-mot1.html

Since the bolt pattern is standardized, it's likely it will fit other motors as well but I finely tuned the round part of the mount to match this motor exactly. My thought process was that if I actually wrap the mount around the round part it will help stabilize and reduce flex in the mount. Seemed to work great so I haven't iterated any further.

Print Settings:
So far, I have been printing this from simple PLA, standing upright with automatic supports. I recommend 4 walls and 25% infill which should be plenty strong. (Just don't crank too hard on the mounting bolts or you'll crack it.)

If you try it, particularly with another motor, please let me know how it goes and if it works for you! I'm always open to feedback to improve these parts.

~Jay

Hi I’m also thinking of a new 3D printer - upgrading from my qidi x-pro. I’m considering the x1 carbon combo that you were using in some of your videos. How do you like it?

Again, very appreciative of the 3D print files. I used your files to print up Steamboat Willie head (to put on a skeleton) and was thinking about using a windshield motor to animate him turning a giant boat wheel (helm.) I can't wait to see what other folks come up with too. Loving this mix of new technology and hand crafted artistry!
