Profile Stats: Early Look

With the profile stats page coming next, I wanted to share a first look at how it's been developing so far.

Even though the point of this screenshot is to see how it'll look, I want you to keep in mind I've been primarily focusing on getting the data right and still have a lot to do when it comes to cleaning it up visually. With that said I still want to walkthrough what I think will make a good stats page and what's being shown here.

My main goal when creating this page was to keep it clean, as I know it can be really easy to insert every number of every kind here. The data should be easy to read so that it can easily referenced and comparable when looking at friends' stats. It should also be able to give someone new a good overview of your collection without drowning in the details.

Here that's being shown with the most fundamental stats of the site with log and game statuses right at the start. Seeing how they total up and scale against each other was a no-brainer to include as that was one of the first things I did when I created a spreadsheet for games a few years ago. Adding in genres gives a fun look at what type of games you may play the most or have a hard time sticking to.

Then yearly stats are really good at giving a complete look at your collection by showing you totals over time. Here you can switch the graph between 4 different modes, 

Release shows the total amount of games played by the game's release year

Played shows the total amount of games with a played journal status in that year

Finished shows the total amount of games with a finish date in that year

Rating shows an average rating you gave to the games that released that year

This gives a good mix of the games' history and your history of when you played them.

There will certainly be many more stats to look forward to but those will have to come at a later time. Thanks for taking this look into this upcoming Backer-exclusive feature and stay tuned for more soon!
