12.21 | Development Update

Hello again, welcome back to another Backloggd update!

This time we're going to spend some time recapping what's happened between our last update in September and now. Then we'll take a look at updated plan for this month.


Recap
- Username can be changed every 30 days
- 2021 GOTY event started
- List searching

We had a handful of new features pop-up between now and then. Username changing and list searching were highly requested on their own so it was good to find time to squeeze them in as the moderation tools are still being developed in the background. List searching was added last minute in 1.9.6 so it is a bit barebones right now, I'm hoping to focus on the search page in general come near future to make it all around a better experience. But in the meantime I wanted to still provide the basic ability to search for lists even if just by title for now. Then username changing was a no-brainer after receiving too-many-to-count support emails requesting custom changes!

GOTY
Our 3rd annual Game of the Year event started as many of you probably have noticed. Mostly the same as last year but you can now easily filter by just your friends' GOTY lists instead of only seeing a handful of everyone's. Can't wait to see this year's finals, more so for recommendations as I have some catching up to do.

Moderation Tools
This one is still going strong, just harder to show progress as it's mostly backend work. It is taking a bit longer than I had hoped as more features crop up that I realize should be there before opening it up to any future moderators. Trust me they'll be thankful some of these things are here from the start though. Again, apologies for the vagueness but I hope you can trust me when I say it's coming along well!

What's Next?
Since you've all been waiting to nicely, I'm going to start saving up any additional features / fixes for the next release 1.10. This release will be bit of an in-between of a minor update and previous full releases in terms of content, but the main showcase here will be the new badges promised in the last Patreon goal! I really wanted to get these out before the year is up so I'm making the decision to push the visual redesign changes to later so 1.10 can be moved up for just the badges and a handful of other smaller changes. This update should be out sometime late December if all goes well, hopefully I just didn't jinx it 😉
