On to a New Year

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to send out a quick post before the year concludes both to say thank you for reaching the next Patreon milestone and to give a quick update on what's coming in the new year.

Over this past year Backloggd received 3 major updates and 15 minor updates bringing a plethora of new features, fixes, and overall beefing up our platform. This year has been a huge step is growing Backloggd and I can't wait for what's next. With that said, let's explore a bit into what actually is next.

Just two weeks ago we hit our next milestone of $600 which I've now promised to look into reaching out for help on various design / artistic parts of the site. Namely I'm looking into getting help with redesigning the badges into art that's a bit more than just an icon on a colored background and then I want to try to find an actual logo for Backloggd that isn't just the initials or name in white. Either way reaching this next milestone will really help expand the budget for this and I'm really excited to see what comes of it. Will share more as progress develops.

On the other side we also had a new update come out which included the 10 new badges promised from the last Patreon goal we hit way back when. This update also had a few fixes and the ability to set your default sort direction in applicable places. Was really glad to get this out before the year ended as it was fun to put together.

Don't worry I haven't forgotten about the Favorites Showcase goal we hit almost a year ago, that's still on the docket once moderation tools have been completed.

Without saying too much of the same, moderation tools are still taking priority to be worked on until completion. After that I'll be spending some time on finding the right people who can use these newly developed tools to help me run the site. Once that is all completed, I still want to focus on unifying the design of Backloggd itself as many UI elements need to be updated. I'm also going to be taking a step-back to look at the journal and see how it can be improved as I know there are many frustrations of "too many clicks" for certain aspects such as setting finished / started or playtime. This may lead to an entire redesign, a small tweak, or nothing at all. I'm honestly not sure yet but this is generally where I want to spend time next.

With that said it's been another fantastic year and I want to remind everyone this all started as a passion project for me and being able to keep up with it for this long is not something I imagined when I first started. So thank you for letting me keep this dream alive, hey maybe one day it'll be my actual job. I can only hope 😉

On to 2022, see you next year!
