Should the Adventurer Guild be moved out of town?

Comments

Just as a thought, maybe split the difference. Now that there are more NPCs showing up in the Adventurer Guild, how about a "branch office" out by the Mine where it is in the vanilla game? One that is staffed primarily by the NPCs coming from Castle Village, so maybe they don't open it until you fix the mine cart system, but Marlon could also stop by as part of his patrol route instead of just standing around by the lake, and it could be open all hours of the day after that.

New location would be back in the mountains near the mine.

The question is, where would you move it to? The current location and the vanilla location is convenient--because it's part of your daily or at least semi-daily routine. From a vanilla perspective, you can either make a quick dash to the guild to pick or drop off items prior to entering the mines, or opt to do so on your way out. From the SDV:E perspective, Marlon has been implemented as more important NPC, one that requires gifting to unlock certain events in the game (I want to say his inventory also expands? But I don't remember exactly). While it's reasonable to see the relocation of the guild to the town as a bit odd to some, it's nevertheless still convenient as you're more than likely going to hit up town on most days of the week, so you can stop by to buy/sell things to Marlon and give him a gift. So then the question is, would the new location become of a hassle than anything? Not every decision has to be made for the sake of convenience, but I like to compare it to the Wizard's Tower (speaking strictly vanilla here, and ignoring the addition of the western and southern forest maps). Sure, he's out of the way and likely not to be part of your normal routine, but you probably still end up going to that side of the map for the secret forest (hard wood, foraging, etc.) cutting trees, or the traveling merchant. In that sense, the wizard is out of the way, but still part of an area you're likely to visit.
