One of my favorites. I love how the music in the Bronze (Charge by Splendid) illuminates the sadness Buffy is feeling. Buffy focuses on James because of his killing of the teacher, but the teacher is the real villain. He couldn't let go of a relationship he should never have been in to start with.

2023-04-25 03:05:54 +0000 UTCI think this is a really underrated episode, despite some of the weird, kind of unexplained, VERY early season things like the snakes and wasps. I think the ending is especially strong, with the gender swap and the cuts between 1955 and 1998. This was beautifully directed, performed, and edited.

Her whole persona, her weirdness, You love it or you hate it. An important aspect is that Angel created her to a large extent by killing her whole family and visiting every mental torture on her before turning her.

She's just obviously not for you at all :P This is one of my favorite episodes of S2! The majority of the episode, it seems like any other monster of the week, and then in the 3rd act, merges with the main plot seamlessly. I got chills the first time I caught on to the parallels. I couldn't tell during your reaction if you were fully picking up on it or not, but your comments at the end made me happy when you obviously got it :) I've seen a handful of reactors who just totally miss what the episode is doing, and it's a shame. I really really think this one is brilliant!
