Love this episode. My only gripe is when Buffy tells Joyce she's the slayer. For me though the coming out metaphor("have you tried not being the slayer, it's because you didn't have a strong father figure, etc.") is a bit ham-fisted and ill-fitting to the situation. Unlike coming out as gay, "coming out" as the slayer certainly warrants explanation and Joyce had every right to ask Buffy wtf was going on lmao. It's a lot to expect that Joyce would just accept in an instant that not only does the supernatural world exist (Suprise!) but that your daughter is destined to fight the supernatural forces of evil. Ngl I'd probably flip my shit too lol. It's a shame cause it feels like a missed opportunity, the "reveal" moment to Joyce could have been so impactful and maybe over a longer period of time.
