Such a great show 😊. It’s set in Northern Ireland in the early-mid 90s, during the Troubles (the Northern Ireland conflict that lasted 30 years between the 1960s and 1990s). It essentially just follows the lives of the teens and their families as they navigate their lives in that turbulent time. It’s a very nostalgic show for me, especially with all the 90s music and pop culture references as I was a pre-teen/teenager in the UK in the 90s. For example: - the movie Michelle mentioned in ep 1 was Pulp Fiction - the song the school pupils were singing on stage was Love is All Around (covered by Wet Wet Wet for Four Weddings and a Funeral - it was No. 1 in the UK charts for 15 weeks in 1994) - the slow-walk they were doing in ep 2 was a parody of Reservoir Dogs. - When they were talking about people who were dicks in ep 3, Marti Pellow was the lead singer of Wet Wet Wet, Paddy Ashdown was an English Politician, and Pat Sharp hosted an awesome kids game show called Fun House that two of the kids in my primary school class applied to go on in 1993 (sadly they didn’t get picked).
