How different would this have gone if Willow's protection spell for Buffy's birthday hadn't been ruined last episode?

2023-06-02 15:39:32 +0000 UTCI love this episode for revealing just how bad the Watcher's Council is. Why would they do this? I believe they do this hoping the slayer dies. They want the slayer to be younger and easier to manipulate so a slayer turns 18 and you take her power and put her up against a bad vamp and hope she dies. They get to say it's tradition, we didn't kill her but hey a new 14 to 16 year old will get called in her place and we don't have to worry about the slayer, who has all the actual power, telling us men where to stick our orders.
