LOL - the Xander episode is one of my favorites.

2023-12-20 06:32:34 +0000 UTCI think you pretty much got the point of the episode :) It's "what do things look like to an outside observer". And also just making fun of the show with Buffy and Angel's overwrought fight and Buffy getting thrown out of the library and yelling running back in. Oz cliché howling. Giles going to that oracle. Any one of these scenes in isolation, built up to in an episode, we'd take more seriously if it was part of the plot. But it's not, it's like a series of skits on how to make an angsty WB vampire show. It's not fun watching reactions where people don't get it at all and get annoyed that we don't see what would usually be the A plot. Glad you figured out that the Hellmouth plot was intentionally pointless :) Not one of my favorites. But I appreciate what it was going for!

2023-06-04 17:51:39 +0000 UTCThis episode is still in my top 10 ever! How they make fun of the shows own tropes by "the world is ending again". Instead of the normal the world ending being the A plot, it's the B plot and the silly side plot becomes the A plot. Just a fantastic episode! Love the overly dramatic scene with Angel and Buffy and Xander coughing to interrupt it haha!
