Before even continuing with the reaction, I have to say that Xander was not an asshole to Anya in the last episode. She basically bullied him into sex because she thought that might rid her of her feelings for him, and looked sad afterwards because it hadn’t worked. In general I think that episode was more a commentary on what people want out of sex and/or relationships and how that can differ for the people involved.
