2023-07-14 01:33:19 +0000 UTCThe trilogy were all filmed in Peter Jackson's native New Zealand, they filmed all three movies over a 14 month period with pickup shots filmed when required. The movies were released every Christmas from 2001 to 2003 with the CGI effects increasing with every film. Gollum was a marvel to see back then and still is, he was played by Andy Serkis in a suit and then digitally CGi'ed by WETA Workshop. The realism they achieved was outstanding thanks in no small part to Serkis's acting.
