Josh Whedon likes to do some really weird strange episodes sometimes but this was like way too off-the-wall artsy fartsy type stuff. If you look at the episodes on Wikipedia you'll see that Joss Whedon wrote all the weird ones.

2023-10-07 20:58:26 +0000 UTCI hated this episode when I first watched it. I did enjoy how great it is after rewatching it when I finished the series. It's still not one of my favorites, but it's written very well, and it is clever.

2023-08-03 19:50:43 +0000 UTCIt’s always a bit jarring to get something you weren’t expecting but I love it when shows do it and Buffy does it multiple times. This episode especially is wonderfully weird but carefully crafted. Still, I get your reaction. It’s not an indication of your enjoyment of the rest of the show, although the start of season 5 is also a weird one.
