I think I agree with the poster above. Using someone on the surface is fine if both parties are on the same page and agreeing to it. But I think despite what the person says, if you know they have more feelings than 'no strings attached hookup' , then it's probably best not to get into it. I think that's what buffy speaking to, spike might say he is Ok with being used, but buffy knows he wants more so she feels wrong, and that's eating at her. So she did the right thing breaking it off.

If it’s two people who don’t want a relationship and are fine with being bed buddies then it’s cool. When you have one clearly in love with the other person, you run the risk of someone getting hurt when it ends.
