Sarah and a lot of the cast were ready for it to end because it was 7 years of constant filming and work. Sarah didnt want to come back for a new season.

And I don't remember if it was cancelled or not, I think it was because Joss Whedon did not want the show to end. There's actually an 8th season but because the show was cancelled he made it into a comic book.
