I would suggest that the effects in this film, which are amongst the most highly praised in movie history, are more impressive than any werewolf movie seen today, at least, anything CGI. ... As for why another full moon comes up so soon, I suspect they're using the "night of the full moon and the two nights surrounding it" approach that was utilized in Marvel Comics' Werewolf By Night, and later was employed on Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Oz. ...This true classic was one of two werewolf movies to come out around the same time, after no such major motion pictures had been made for 20 years or so; the other, The Howling, is every bit as classic as An American Werewolf in London. Perhaps you will give that one a gander here, should someone request it.
