That last shot, THAT LAUGH, gives me chills every time. David's acting here is incredible. Cordelia didn't need to say "Angelus," it was obvious. Angel's gone. I couldn't figure out from your reaction, so just making sure: You did get that that was all in Angel's imagination, right? That he lost his soul at that second he made love to Cordy? That he WASN'T Angelus during that mind trip? That that's what would have made him happy if it really happened? I adore this episode myself, but it also sums up why I don't like Angel (the character), since it's showing us how he thinks, what makes him happy, what makes him tick... Angel clearly suffers from main character syndrome: All the people he's had a dispute with end up apologizing to HIM. He didn’t do anything wrong. Connor is forced to admit that HE (Angel) should be with Cordelia (which hurts Connor, his son, in the process). Angel says they're all champions but in reality he shuts the others out (especially the girls, aka the damsels) and gets the job done himself, then acts like he's humble and wants credit for THAT. He's the hero who saves the world and gets the girl. Actually, both girls... He mumbled Buffy's name. Remember, HE created these ideal scenarios in his head. This is what would make him happy. Kinda messed up. To support that, the last time he lost his soul (for reals. After sleeping with Buffy) humanity was about to feel the blue hand of The Judge, which would have led to the end of the world, and his love was crying, scared and injured. The sitch was bad. I just don't understand how anyone with humanity in them is capable of experiencing perfect happiness during that. Contentment. That and what I said in my comment for the last episode make it really difficult for me to call Angel a champion. I see too much Liam in him still. Although, Angel telling Connor to “get over it” makes my day lol. Re: Angel and Cordy. I actually like them. They have a real connection. They're best friends. They’re most comfortable with each other. They know each other like no one else does. Based on Angel's mind, he wants to forgive her. He's willing too, and he wants Connor to want that too. He does still love her. So let’s all just “get over it.”
