This classic episode was another example of the shared universe being inhabited, as Autolycus, the King of Thieves, appears on Xena after being introduced on Hercules. Autolycus was played by Bruce Campbell, who also directs episodes, and who is a longtime friend of Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi; the three made Evil Dead, and their company, Renaissance Pictures, was responsible for Hercules and Xena, which is why Bruce was involved. ... I love the Herc mentions in this one, and I like pretty much everything else in it, too. This is a standout from the first season (and the whole series, really.)
