Yes, even same first name. Also Hughes inherited the business from a rich father.
Iron Man comics has been around a long time, started in 1963 and 1968. The movies today are much later so that it's probably better to consider Tony is a son of a Howard Hughes/Howard Stark type. 3 generations of combined fiction and reality, maybe 4 generations lol

And he and his company had military contracts during WWII. MCU wise his father Howard is more like Howard Hughes.

I'm trying this out 🙂
Okay to match voice I delay the audio around 0.3 seconds
If you want to match movie audio it might be harder because it might drift. I'll try it, it should be less critical if I play the movie separate - will try.
Also the comics Tony Stark might be based in part to Howard Hughes who built a giant plane the Spruce Goose. He did a lot of things in aviation.

I was really looking forward to this but the sound issues made this impossible to watch I'm sad now.

I would say the reason the MCU has done better than the DCEU for the most part is because the MCU built itself up and the DCEU thought it could just jump in. Basically DC presented the frosting before they baked the cake.

Tony Stark is not really based on a real person, his dad is sort of based on Howard Hughes. Lots of people compared Tony to Elon Musk before everyone realized how weird and off putting Musk is.
