FYI, there is a 4 minute short scene on Disney Plus called "The Consultant" that adds context to the post credit scene. The scene between Stark and the General I mean.

Joss Whedon replaced Ed Norton because Norton has a reputation of being difficult to work with. Now a moment of silence for the irony of that statement.

For context Universal Studios had the rights to the Hulk at the time and they made their own Hulk movie directed by Ang Lee so when they cut a deal with Marvel Studios to connect with Iron Man they skipped the origin story because they didn't want to retell the same story they did in 2003(?). Marvel had some of their characters rights with other studios so we don't get X-Men (Fox) early on (Deadpool and Wolverine will be the first full movie that connects to X-Men), Spiderman doesn't show up early because they had to make a deal with Sony and The Fantastic Four was with Fox who had to make a movie with them every few years or lose the rights leading to the 2015 Fantastic Four movie that was so bad it cratered the directing career of Josh Trank.
With the Hulk Marvel could use the character but could not do a Hulk only movie until Universal let go of the rights meaning they can do a hulk movie and there have been rumors that they will do in the future.
